Jelvis Baidoo Condemns Togo President’s Constitutional Power Grab
Mr. Jelvis Kwame Baidoo, Team Lead of the Jelvis Foundation, has publicly condemned the recent actions of Togo’s President, Faure Gnassingbé, regarding constitutional amendments aimed at extending his stay in power indefinitely.

In a strongly worded social media post, Mr. Baidoo expressed his disappointment, calling out the long-standing presidency and questioning the state of democratic governance in parts of Africa.
“Africa is crazy indeed! You were sworn in as the President of Togo since 2005 after the demise of your father Gnassingbé Eyadéma. And now you have the audacity to amend the constitution to allow you to be in power forever!” — Jelvis Kwame Baidoo
Mr. Baidoo’s remarks come in response to widespread concerns that the constitutional changes in Togo represent a dangerous erosion of democratic norms, consolidating authoritarian rule and stifling political freedom.

The Jelvis Foundation, while focused primarily on community development, education, and youth empowerment in Ghana, has never shied away from speaking truth to power when issues of justice and governance arise on the African continent.
Mr. Baidoo emphasized that leaders should aspire to serve their people with integrity and accountability—not cling to power at all costs.
