Businessman and philanthropist Jelvis Kwame Baidoo has reiterated his commitment to community development, leadership, education, and healthcare during an appearance on the Newday Breakfast Show.
Speaking during the interview, the Founder of the Jelvis Foundation outlined the core values that continue to guide the Foundation’s activities across Effia Constituency and beyond. According to him, the Foundation was established on principles of service, empowerment, accountability, and a genuine desire to improve the lives of people within the community.

Mr. Baidoo highlighted the Foundation’s growing impact through initiatives focused on healthcare outreach, skills training, youth empowerment, digital inclusion, and educational support. He stressed that sustainable development can only be achieved when leaders place the needs of the people above personal interests.
Discussing leadership, Mr. Baidoo stated that true leaders are not created by titles or positions but are developed within the communities they serve.
According to him, effective leadership requires a deep understanding of the challenges facing ordinary people and a willingness to prioritize community needs above political considerations.
“Leadership is about service. It is about understanding the struggles of your people and working tirelessly to find solutions that improve their lives,” he emphasized.
He noted that communities thrive when leaders remain accessible, accountable, and committed to solving real problems rather than pursuing short-term recognition.
During the interview, Mr. Baidoo also expressed concern about ongoing drainage challenges within the municipality.
He questioned the effectiveness of investments made toward drainage improvement projects, particularly in areas where flooding and stagnant water continue to affect residents.
According to him, while efforts have been made to address water accumulation around the Effiakuma Police Park area, some of the interventions have resulted in unintended consequences for surrounding communities.
He pointed to concerns that water diverted from one location has allegedly affected nearby lands, creating new challenges for residents and property owners.
Mr. Baidoo emphasized that development projects should be carefully planned and executed to ensure they provide lasting solutions rather than shifting problems from one area to another.
The Jelvis Foundation founder further called for greater accountability and strategic planning in the implementation of public infrastructure projects.
He stressed that communities deserve projects that deliver measurable results and long-term benefits.
According to him, residents must remain engaged in development conversations and continue demanding quality outcomes from projects funded with public resources.
He noted that development should not be measured solely by the completion of projects but by the positive impact those projects have on people’s lives.

Mr. Baidoo reaffirmed his belief that the future of Effia Constituency lies in investing in people through education, healthcare, entrepreneurship, and skills development.
He explained that this vision continues to drive the activities of the Jelvis Foundation, which has become known for initiatives aimed at empowering young people and strengthening communities.
As the Foundation expands its programmes, Mr. Baidoo says his focus remains unchanged: creating opportunities, supporting vulnerable groups, and contributing to the long-term development of the constituency.
He concluded by encouraging residents, stakeholders, and community leaders to work together in building an Effia Constituency that future generations will be proud to inherit.
The interview served as a reflection of the values that continue to shape the Jelvis Foundation’s mission—empowering lives, building communities, and promoting sustainable development through service and leadership.
